I spent a chunk of the night over the
toilet bowl. I decided to pass on class as I was uncomfortable being away from
the toilet long enough to walk to or from school. I ended up buying cold and
flu medicine and that made it easier to breathe – any talking longer than two
minutes had me hacking and choking – as those who know me can attest, a fate
worse than that I know not.
Additionally, I received two deliveries
today: one was from ASDA for our groceries; the second was a package from home.
Neither was a positive experience, and with my crummy health, made me even
crotchetier. First, ASDA showed up over 45 minutes late. We pay for the
deliveries and are guaranteed delivery within a two-hour window, so having them
show up later – in a cheaper timeframe is very annoying. Had I been feeling
well, I’d have been in class and wouldn’t be able to accept the delivery. When they
did – finally – show up, they were less helpful than any other delivery I’ve
had from them, and they couldn’t even be arsed to help me carry the bags (they
filled more than before and didn’t need to) from the middle of the street to
the side until I started threatening to phone in a complaint.
Secondly, the UPS delivery was a botched
job if ever I’ve seen one. The box (which was huge) had clearly labelled “Fragile”
stickers (4 of ‘em) on it, yet the guy clunked it down on the concrete floor
and proceeded to kick/shove it along. Also, it was due to be delivered the 29th
of October, yes arrives the 1st of November. What’s worse, it would
have been on time but UPS got it all tied up by trying to get me to pay import
on it after it was paid on the other side of the ocean.
I’m very unhappy with their service, but
such is life – I’ll most likely need to use them to get some of my stuff back
to Montreal next year.
