Thursday: On Miscellany

Went to class today and was insulted by the guest lecturer twice. The lecture was about Scottish clothing and foodstuffs. The first time the lecturer showed what a closed minded fool/bigot she was, we were talking about eccentric clothing – and I fully admit to loving that sort of thing. Anyways, when talking about them, a classmate of mine, Richard, remarked that I owed quite an eccentric hat and possessed a unique fashion sensibility. Well, as I happened to have the hat in my bag, I pulled it out and put it on. The first words out of her mouth were “you look like a moron.” To colour me underwhelmed by her lack of common sense is putting it mildly. She continued on from there and I started quietly removing any credibility from what she said. Later on, when I mentioned dollars (Canadian or American, doesn’t matter in this context) she asked me what that would mean in “real money”. Given that over half the class is from North America, she managed to offend all of us.

That evening, I went to Tadhg and Jenny’s to do some laundry. Also, I was able to listen to Oval is Back!’s rehearsal. It was interesting to hear them spin Iris, Zombie, Adele, and other songs.

The biggest happening today didn’t even happen to me. On her way to school today, Carleigh was hit by a car. She’s fine – more or less – with minimal cuts and bruises, but nothing “too serious” ie head injuries, crushed body parts, or broken bones happened. For which we are all grateful. And to show just how badass she is, she attended class as if nothing happened. I bow to her hardcoreness.
