Friday had me learning more of the city – I
had a meeting with the bank to open a savings account to store most of my
money, instead of having it all in a cash account. I then meandered around Union
Street. I do realize there is more to the city than Union, but as it is the “City Centre”, it’s
good to be comfortable knowing there.
There were issues with some flatmates again
today and I’ve basically realized that the whole lot of us have fallen in to two
camps, each with a different personality type: I am with Neo and Zax, and Edi
and Sam are on the other side. Ernest sort of pussyfoots between both groups.
On our side, we keep our words, don’t cause shit in the mornings, and we pay our
share of the food money on time. We also keep our words to do our chores without
complaint (well, I complain, but it’s more than I complain about everything
than it’s me being reluctant to actually doing my task). Sam and Edi,
unfortunately, don’t do their chores, always complain (about money, about what
is made, etc), scream and slam doors early in the morning, and have to be
chased down and threatened before they will pay their food bills (I know, if
they don’t pay, keep them out of the deal). Ernest is in an interesting
position, he’s loud at certain times, and doesn’t always pay promptly, but he
doesn’t bitch and he does his share of the chores. The paying issue doesn’t
bother me with Ernest because he’s a little strapped for cash in general, what
with him making sure most of his money is back in Belgium for his wife and
kids.
That evening, the CeltSoc had our first “Games
night” at the Bobbin. It was pretty good, some new faces showed up; but most
were familiar faces (which is also a good thing, don’t get me wrong). The games
were fun, but the area wasn’t the most conducive for the event, unfortunately. But
I still had fun, so that is all that matters. Z and Neo came along too, but
they ended up going and hanging out playing Snooker... I don’t think the games
were quite their speed.
After the Games night, Jenny, Zax, Neo, and
I walked up to Hillhead because Jenny and I were attending a flat party hosted
by Julia’s boyfriend (I don’t think much of the guy, but he’s not bad; just a
little too immature and bigoted). The party was CRAP. Julia ignored us,
everyone else ignored us. Jenny and I spent a lot of time alone just we two.
Angus had issues and locked himself out of his room, a guest ended up drunkenly
ramming his fist through a door (which was not his; the owner was away for the
weekend), and Julia had drama with her boyfriend.
