Given the weather of yesterday, I decided
it would be prudent to arrange of some clothing that is climate appropriate. Therefore,
bright and early at 8:45, I took the bus down to the city centre to shop again
at Primark. I managed the bus system quite well and made all the connections on
my own. I know this isn’t all that important in general, but I think being able
to navigate the transit system in a strange place for the first time alone
deserves some acknowledgement. So this is it.
I got to Primark at 9 and was out by 9:20. Within
that time, I purchased a fun hat (it’s like a tiger hear that has flaps hanging
down most of my torso that has little pockets to tuck my hands into at the end
of the flaps), I also got some gloves, a cowl-neck t-shirt and a vest with hood
made for cold weather. All in all, I’m happy with my purchases and it was
fairly affordable.
I then navigated the buses back to campus
in time for three more Colin Milton lectures.
That evening, I went to the Ab-Fab event
which was Ice Skating. I talked Neo and Zax into accompanying me, and it was a
lot of fun. Sam, President of Ab-Fab was less than lovely to be around, but the
rest of the people I spoke were very nice. I had a lot of fun and – probably due
to being a Canadian – was conscripted into helping others learn to skate.
The skates themselves were horrible. They were
the kind that reminds you of ski boots: hard plastic with two plastic buckles
instead of laces. They ended up giving my legs a beating and I was bruised and
bloody by the time we left the arena. In that regard it was a success as far as
Canadian Ice Skating is concerned: what with the “there should always be
involved in ice skating” mentality.
I did get a chance to wear the shirt the Domanskis gave me; it was super warm and comfy! Loved it.
