Saturday: Of Budgets and the Blowing of Them

Saturday was the fated day: I’d planned with Julia on Wednesday (after supper at Jenny’s) that we would go shopping for Hallow’een costumes. As a native of Aberdeenshire, Julia has some familiarity with Aberdeen city, so it was to be the ultimate hook-up shop-wise. Unfortunately, that never came to pass. A little after Julia was supposed to meet me, I got a text from her boyfriend telling me she couldn’t make it. I’ll admit to being a little miffed that she didn’t bother to blow me off herself and had to hide behind her other half. However, I simply settled for a better alternative: I texted Jenny. The thing about Jenny is that she knows people everywhere in the city. She also knows some really good places to shop. Today she pulled through (as I’d fully expected). I bought two sets of shoes (one waterproof and one pair of simple sneakers). I also was able to start some of my Christmas shopping (I mean, there ARE only nine more weeks until Christmas...)

After, I swung by Asylum again (the awesome comic chop). I bought a trade paperback and another piece of original art. It’s gorgeous and I can totally see myself framing it and hanging it on my wall back home as my central piece of memorabilia from this year in Scotland. I’m really looking forward to the 3rd of November when Asylum will host a comicbook artist who works for either DC or Marvel (I can’t recall at the moment, don’t judge). It’s like at comicons, where you can commission original art and watch them do it... epic! I have to decide who I want to commission... decisions, decisions...
