First thing in the morning and I am down at
the Porter’s Office – so that I can report of complaint. They tell me that next
time I should just call them. Now, there are two things wrong with that: we
have no phone with a connection to the Porter’s Desk, and we don’t have their
number. But other than that, it makes a hella lotta sense.
The majority of the day was spent working
on the “Essay from Hell”.
In the evening, I quit on the essay at about
5, I spent the next half hour cleaning – not my job, but the flat is a tip
because no one is cleaning what they said they would (the ‘Tip’ Britishism is
thanks to Katie) and it was really bugging me.
At half five, I started the first round of
dinners. I cooked supper for the flatmates. Sam, again, took his food into his
room without speaking to the three cooks and I laughed at him for his
petulance. After they were done, I clean the kitchen and started with the
second supper. I was having the dinner with friends: Natalie, Jenny, Julia and
Tadgh (pronounce it like the first syllable in “tiger”, Tig). Tadgh is Jenny’s
flatmate and a really nice guy; he’s in Chemistry here (Uni of Aberdeen) and when
he explained his project caused me to feel absolutely moronic.
Either way, I made dinner and Tadgh brought
desert – homemade peanut butter cookies (I’m probably going to steal his recipe).
Julia never showed, and none of us were able to get in contact with her. It seemed to go over well, so yay for that.
After my guests left, I wrote some more of my essay and spent a few hours online chatting with Christopher and Cathy D-K.
