Tuesday: Books! And Lectures….

The first of the books I purchased on Sunday arrived. Two arrived before I went to class. The class was alright; I madly wrote as much as I could, but still needed to steal the slides to scan them. I wrote down the names of more books I should get (because they were referenced in lecture and were like what my dissertation should be like and on the topic as well… I do not look forward to shipping my lot back home next year….) In tutorial that evening, Ian (Professor Ian Russell) assigned us full-timers (Nat, Carleigh, Hannah, and I) to do an additional reading summary for Thursday’s class. On top of that, all of us in the Tuesday class (which includes part-timer Chris) were assigned an additional written review in the next ten days. Normally, I’d grumble a little, as the additional work isn’t something I like at the best of times. HOWEVER, this really ticked me off. Ian didn’t give the extra reading to the three part timers in Thursday’s class the same assignment (which isn’t really all that fair), but also, these two extra assignments are getting in the way of the actual marked assignments I already have: two research archive papers due the 23, and a 3,000 word essay due the 26. On top of those assignments is the boatload of readings I have to do every week. To say I bitched and moaned is an understatement.

When I got back to the flat that night, I found another book I’d ordered, which made me a little more tolerable. That night, after supper, I went online again and ordered another book that I need for my dissertation. Sam walked in to my room and asked me to do him a favor. He wanted me to buy something online for him, since he doesn’t have a bank account over here yet. I did so, but made sure I had his cash in hand before I finalized the payment – I’m not THAT crazy.
